The Performing Arts Committee's mission is to serve as a forum, for both the community and the region, for matters relating to the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. The Performing Arts Committee's functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- to act in advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to the performing arts.
- to increase community involvement in the performing arts by raising awareness and facilitating the use of City-owned and operated performing arts venues by Mountain View-based community and/or other local organizations with special attention to underserved and/or underprivileged residents.
- to promote synergy between performing artists, performing arts professionals and the community through outreach programs.
- to promote the booking of quality programs which reflect a programmatic mixture of theatre, music and other performing arts.
- to promote the use of multimedia resources which make the arts accessible to the widest possible audience.
- to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in financial matters pertaining to facility use fees and charges for the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.
- to consider provisions of the annual budget for performing arts purposes during the process of the preparation of the budget and to make recommendations with respect thereto to the City Manager and City Council.
- to represent the public in matters relating to the performing arts in Mountain View by solicity input from users and nonusers of City-owned and operated performing arts venues.
- to accept money, personal property, or real estate donated to the City for performing arts purposes subject to the approval of the City Council.
- to perform such other duties as Council may direct.
- to monitor progress toward achievement of these goals.
The Performing Arts Committee consists of five members, each serving a four year term.
