Since 1990, the City of Mountain View has worked diligently to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act equal access to employment, public services and facilities requirements by:
- providing employment accessibility
- ensuring accessibility to City programs and services, and
- ensuring that newly constructed or renovated City facilities are accessible to the disabled
After developing an Implementation Plan that outlined the specific steps necessary for improving accessibility, the City has funded more that $1 million worth of capital improvement projects to remove barriers from existing facilities. The City of Mountain View continually monitors and assesses its facilities, services and programs to ensure accessibility.
The City is currently in the process of implementing a multi-year project to replace playground equipment in City parks pursuant to new standards.
