Preschool Programming

Preschool Program
PlaySchool, Tot Time and KinderPrep Classes 
This creative, play-based preschool program has been designed to meet the developmental needs of the "whole child." The curriculum centers on the vital social opportunities children need in order to grow emotionally, cognitively, and kinesthetically. Children are provided the opportunity to learn at their own pace with a curriculum that includes daily art and circle activities, singing, dancing, and storytelling.

Registration for the 2012-2013 school year will begin on April 9, 2012 for Mountain View Residents and April 30, 2012 for Non-Residents.

Please note: Priority registration has been taken for the Fall session of the 2011-2012 school year. For more information about registration and/or to place your child on the waitlist, please visit the Community Center or call (650) 903-6331 during regular business hours.


Tot Time
Tot Time Class Meets: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:15am-11:45am. Participants of the 2012-2013 school years must have been born between November 1, 2008 and November 2, 2009.  This social, play-based preschool class allows the young preschooler the opportunity to develop social and emotion fortitude skills in a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment.  The curriculum included daily art and circle activities, singing, dancing, storytelling and fingerplays.

PlaySchool
PlaySchool Class Meets: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15am-11:45am. Participants of the 2012-2013 school year must have been born between November 1, 2007 and November 2, 2008. The PlaySchool class builds on the foundation developed in the Tot Time class.  Students are encouraged to develop the social, emotional, kinesthetic, and cognitive skills that will serve them through the kindergarten and elementary years.  The curriculum is play-based and experiential and includes singing, dancing, storytelling, cooperative crafts, and hands on science activities.  Students will be empowered to 'find out for yourself.'

KinderPrep
Kinder-Prep Class Meets: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1:00pm - 3:30pm. Participants of the 2012-2013 school year must have been born between November 1, 2007 and November 2, 2008. During the year your child will receive personalized attention from the teachers to further support their learning and exploration in a structured environment. The curriculum will include weekly themes, which will build color, shape, number and letter recognition through enrichment exercises, crafts, and group activities. Your child will be exposed to a variety of activities that will better prepare them to enter Kindergarten with essential skills and confidence. Prior preschool experience is recommended.

Summer Activities  
Busy Bees Summer Camp
Camp Meets: Monday-Friday 9:15am-11:45am. This half-day camp has been designed to meet the social, cognitive and recreational needs of the young members of our community. This camp fosters a healthy respect for the environment and community through a variety of activities which include nature walks, arts and crafts, games, songs, trips to the wading pool and special guest presentations. Busy Bees participants are 3-5 years of age.  More information on this camp and how to enroll will be provided in the Summer Recreation Activity Guide.


Year Round Activities

The City of Mountain View offers exciting classes for preschool age children. To search current classes offered please refer to our activity guide. A wide variety of classes are offered which include gymnastics, ice-skating, dance, specialty holiday classes, art classes, and Mom/Dad and Me classes. All classes are committed to creating a diverse experience, promoting personal development, and having fun!
