Police Explorers

MVPD's Explorers are young citizens (ages 14-21) who volunteer to assist the department in providing police services to the community. The program is a great way to explore a future career in law enforcement, or just an enjoyable way to provide community service. It's also a terrific opportunity to learn about leadership, teamwork and responsibility.

Explorers attend an 8-session academy where they receive training in patrol procedures, first aid, radio communications, search & rescue, criminal law and traffic control. The Explorers Program also sponsors social functions, field trips and tours. Explorers go on ride-alongs with officers and may assist them in the field. Explorers meet once a month, on a weekday evening.
