The youth exchange program offers students who live in the Mountain View/Los Altos High School District the opportunity to develop an understanding of different countries,their cultures and people. 

• Iwata, Japan applicants must be entering their first year of high school.
• Students applying for Hasselt, Belgium must be a High School freshman when they apply. 

The Exchange Students are chosen by a committee through a selection process which may include group interview, individual interviews and/or home visits with their parents or guardians.  Each selected student will host a foreign Exchange Student for a 2-week period in July or August of the application year.  The following summer the Mountain View Sister City Exchange Student will be hosted by their exchange "brother or sister".
